When Special Olympics Arizona came to us to redesign their website, they wanted to modernize not only the site’s design, but also its user experience. First and foremost, they aimed to increase donor engagement at events and competitions through a more streamlined platform. In addition, accessibility was a major priority to align with the nonprofit’s values.
Every great website has its foundation in a clear navigational structure. For Special Olympics, this meant prioritizing the information needed by athletes, parents, volunteers, and donors into a structure that would be easy to understand despite the diverse audiences. From there, we updated the homepage to make a bigger impact, adding more variety to the content and providing multiple paths deeper into the site based on frequent user interactions.
The final result was a dynamic, fast, engaging website that represented the strong brand identity of Special Olympics Arizona. Through clear, engaging content and a streamlined user experience, we incorporated a clear pathway for donor engagement, improving the website’s usability for this crucial audience. And at every phase of the project, we evaluated our work based on the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) to ensure that inclusion and ease of access were kept at the forefront of the development process.
