Optimize your Website for Voice Search

Voice-search products like Alexa, Google, and Siri are rapidly developing, and they are here to stay. So, is your business benefiting from these voice tools like it could be? Alexa, Google, and Siri make it convenient for consumers to find the answers for us. According to ComScore, 50% of all searches will be voice searches by 2020.

Your business can be getting a lot more traffic than it is now by putting it on the map. Google Internal Data states that approximately one-third of all mobile searches are now related to location. That means that while they are on the go, it could be your restaurant they stop into because they saw your location on their map, or your business appeared on the list of suggestions from their voice search.

How Do You Get Your Business on the Map?

First, if your business has an address, tell Google. Claim and verify your Google Business Listing to let Google know that your website is trustworthy and that Google should send customers to it.

Then, make sure that all of your business information is updated. This means phone numbers, website links, hours, etc. The more you can tell people about your business, the better. How do you get all that information to appear in a Google search? Add an AdWords location extension. Using an extension will enable the latter to show next to your business ad on Google. If you have multiple business locations, an ad extension can show all of your nearby locations. Using a location extension is critical for your business to appear in a show-me-nearby-locations voice search.

Make it a Natural Conversation

We’re not saying your site needs to be optimized for small talk. People who are doing a voice search don’t want to have to think about how to form their question; they just want to ask as if they were talking to a friend.

Optimize your website for conversational keywords. The simple ones such as the 5 W’s and will, can, are, are the words that are going to come naturally when they raise their phone to their mouth to ask their questions. Once you’ve strategically flooded your site with these keywords, bring them to a page where they can get their answers like an FAQ page. The goal is if you can bring them to one of your pages on your website, they’ll stay on it and do some other browsing, or better yet, make a conversion.
